"Receiving this grant is an honor and a reminder that our journeys are never individual. As an educator and doctoral student, I carry my community, my students, and my experiences with me in every step of my learning. Support like this makes it possible for me to continue growing while staying rooted in the work that matters most: serving others and strengthening opportunities for the communities that shaped me. This experience will allow me to deepen my understanding of place-based learning and culturally responsive teaching in a global context, and more importantly, to bring that learning back. I see this opportunity through the lens of reciprocity. What I gain, I am responsible for sharing. What I learn, I am committed to returning to the educators and students I serve so it can continue to grow beyond me. To students and fellow educators, I would say this: your path may not always be easy, but it is meaningful. Stay connected to your purpose, to your community, and to the reasons you began. "I am humbled and very grateful for such a blessing. I am very pleased and honored to be a recipient of the NSHSS grant award. The grant will be of great assistance in providing extra resources to help with teaching and learning AP Biology. The 3D courseware will be of great help with AP Biology, where both I and my students are English Language Learners. With our cultural background and upbringing, most of our learning process that occurs at home is mostly practicing and observing. Having the resources to purchase online programs to be utilized for teaching and learning will be of great benefit."
