NSHSS Member Event at Texas A&M University

On Saturday, March 4, 2023, NSHSS welcomes members and their families to join us in College Station, Texas, for a Member Event at Texas A&M University!

This one-day event will consist of a networking breakfast, some helpful information from Texas A&M students and staff members, College & Career Fair, educational workshops, and conclude with the Member Recognition Ceremony, where each member in attendance will be honored for their academic achievements!

8:00 AM 9:00 AM: Event Check-In & Badge Pick-Up

Attendees will check in with a digital or printed copy of their tickets, and members will receive name badges.

8:00 AM 9:00 AM: Networking Breakfast and College & Career Fair

Attendees will have the chance to gather information from College & Career Fair exhibitors. NSHSS will provide a catered continental breakfast for all event participants.

9:00 AM 9:30 AM: NSHSS Welcome to Aggieland & Texas A&M University Information Session

NSHSS will welcome attendees to campus; then, Texas A&M admissions staff will guide them through an informative presentation about the university.

9:30 AM 10:00 AM: Pursuing College Admissions & Scholarships with Confidence

Hear the NSHSS Scholarships Administrator and NSHSS Fellows Vice President discuss some tips for standing out in the college admissions process and finding and applying for scholarships!

10:00 AM 10:30 AM: Army ROTC Scholarships

Our NSHSS Partner, Army ROTC, will host an educational workshop discussing scholarship opportunities and how being in the Army develops you as a leader and sets you up for success in both the private and public sector.

10:30 AM 11:15 AM: Texas Collegiate Showcase

A panel featuring Texas A&M, Texas Tech, the University of Texas at Arlington, and the University of Houston. Texas Universities will discuss their academics, campus life, admissions process, and what makes their school stand out with live Q&A!

11:15 AM – 2:00 PM: Lunch Break

Attendees will visit nearby eateries for lunch on their own.

11:15 AM – 2:00 PM: Self-Guided Campus Tours

Attendees will have free time to explore the Texas A&M University campus further

11:15 AM – 2:00 PM: College and Career Fair

Attendees will have the chance to gather information from College & Career Fair exhibitors.

2:00 PM – 2:30 PM: Honor Student to Exceptional Intern!

Learn from JAS what it takes to be a successful intern and how to stand out in your internship applications and interviews!

2:30 PM – 3:15 PM: Texas A&M University Student Panel

NSHSS Members will hear from Texas A&M University students about navigating campus life, choosing an appropriate major, and other general information about Texas A&M University.

3:15 PM – 3:45 PM: Introduction to Texas A&M LAUNCH Honors & Undergraduate Research Programs

Attendees will hear from the Texas A&M University LAUNCH Director about Learning Communities, Academic Excellence, Undergraduate Research, National Fellowships, Capstones, and Honors programs!

3:45 PM 4:30 PM: Member Recognition Ceremony

Members will hear congratulatory remarks and receive their own NSHSS honor medallion!

Interested in Texas A&M Campus Tours?

On the Member Event day, there will only be a limited amount of time during the lunch break to tour the campus. Self-Guided tour materials will be available, as well as Texas A&M admissions officers present at the College & Career Fair. 

Texas A&M is making several tour options available for NSHSS Members on Friday, March 3!

Students have the option to experience Campus Walking Tours, Admission Information Presentations, Academic Sessions of each department, and Resident Life Tours.

Several time slots are available on Friday, March 3!

We recommend that you register as soon as registration opens. Due to Covid-19 policies, seating is limited, and registration will close once we reach the venue's maximum capacity. Only those who register via Eventbrite will be admitted to the event. Registration fees are non-refundable.

NSHSS has secured a discounted room block at the TownePlace Suites by Marriot - College Station for a special rate of $99 per night.

*Rate available for any night(s) between Thursday and Sunday. The room features a suite-style layout with a full kitchen. Complimentary hot breakfast and on-site parking are included.*

 

NSHSS has also secured a discounted room block at the Aggieland Boutique Hotel for a special rate of $109 per night.

Event parking is available in the West Campus Garage across from the event venue (located just across the street from TAMU Rec Sports)

$3-First hour - $2-Each additional hour - $15 MAX for the day

$5 Flat Fee Parking at multiple lots surrounding TAMU Rec Sports and neighboring Reed Arena): Lot #s 100, 97, 74, 61 (there will be a basketball game at Reed Arena on the morning of our event, and parking is first come, first served!
